Sophie Barrs is a printed textile design student in her 3rd year at De Montfort University. A hugely determined and ambitious student excited to gain experience within the textile design industry.
As a printed textile design student, her work is inspired by a large variety of sources, with a keen eye for colour and layout, ensuring the basis of her work.
Her design focus is explored through illustrations and mark making in order to create fresh and innovative designs for interior wallpapers and furnishing fabrics. With her knowledge of both screen printing processes and digital print, she is inspired to produce a combination of techniques to apply to her designs, enabling her collections to be commercially viable.
Technical knowledge, including fabric dying is another element that enhances her design development, as well as her talent in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to manipulate initial drawings and ideas.
